Erken Cumhuriyet Dönemi Müzesine Ait Tarihi Bir Vesika: Tokat Müzesi Defteri (A Historical Documentary of an Early Republican Period Museum: Records of Tokat Museum) investigates cultural politics of Turkish Republic in 1930s-1950s within safeguarding and museological context.  The book which is based on Tokat city center and its museum records intends to show effects of  Republican period politics and its reflection in the country through museum records by putting an emphasis on Republican period cultural politics approach in terms of education, reliques, safeguarding, museology and history. The book also interrelates the role of institutions which dominates cultural life such as Türk Ocakları (Turkish hearths) and Halkevleri (Turkish institution for public education) . Within this context , as a model, a special attention is paid to Tokat Halkevi and its role in history, museology and the foundation of Tokat Museum.

The main focus of the book is the examination of Tokat Museum records which are not publihsed until today. The records keeps an important place to understand museology in the early Republican period and also provides a rich context including information and evaluations not only on artifacts from the city center but also surveys and monuments in various neighbourhoods. The museum records which sheds light on the city’s history, architecture and art should be considered as a  significant source that gives details both in terms of museology and the perspectives of cultural politcs of the period.
