As Part of side events of Either Independence or Death! On the Way to the Republic exhibition which was launched in collaboration with Koç University Ankara Studies Research Center (VEKAM), Collectors Association and Çankaya Municipality, İnönü Foundation’s “To Be or Not to Be Lozan 1923” documentary screening and a talk will be held on October 11, 2023 at 19.00  at the Çankaya Municipality Doğan Taşdelen Contemporary Arts Center.

Abstract:

“To Be or Not to Be Lozan 1923” is a documentary prepared by the İnönü Foundation for the centennial of the signing of the Treaty of Lausanne on July 23, 1923. The historical narrative of the documentary, which traces the path from the symbol of defeat, Sevres, to the establishment of a new country in Lausanne, is based on the memories of the head of the Lausanne delegation, Foreign Minister İsmet İnönü, and is narrated with documents obtained from various country and institution archives. The guests interviewed in the documentary include Prof. Bilsay Kuruç, who is also a consultant and scriptwriter, Prof. Seçil Akgün, and Prof. İlber Ortaylı. The documentary, with its original music composed by Derya Köroğlu, is divided into three parts and lasts 1.5 hours.
