The “Architects Who Left Their Mark on Ankara” project was initiated in 2017 and completed in 2020 with the cooperation of Başkent University and Koç University Vehbi Koç Ankara Studies  Research Center (VEKAM). The project is conducted by  T. Elvan Altan (Middle East Technical University, Department of Architecture), Nuray Bayraktar (Başkent University, Department of Architecture) and Umut Şumnu (Başkent University, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design). The project team consists of Burcu Ateş, Deniz Avcı Hosanlı, Elif Selena Ayhan Koçyiğit, Nehir Bera Biçer, Elif Cemre ÇelikkanYozçu, Cem Dedekargınoğlu, Sabahat Selcan Dökn Aykaç, Bengi Su Ertürkmen Aksoy, Beril Kapusuz Balcı, Onur Kutluoğlu, Nihan Oya Memlük Çobanoğlu, Neris Parlak Temizel, Tuna Öğüt, Seçil Özcan Geylani, Selim Sertel Öztürk, İlknur Sudaş,  Ayten Hüma Tülce Uman, Melek Pınar Uz Baki- consists of young academics and researchers on the subject. With this project, which aims to bring the architects who have left important traces in the city to the agenda and is planned to be expanded with new studies, it is planned to work with a total of 14 architects/architect groups, focusing on four groups of architects / architects who deserve special importance with the residential, public and civil architectural structures they design in Ankara every year.

 

This book, compiled by Prof. Dr. Nuray Bayraktar with the enhanced texts of the presentations made at the panel on Kadri Erkman; Erkman’s İş Bankası in addition to the projects it produces, it aims to introduce the architect’s place in the architecture of the period and his contributions in Ankara through his important buildings.
