Armed with an awareness about the importance of education in terms of the development of the Republic’s children and the progress of the society, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and the leaders of national education established a system of education to raise generations which have analytical thought skills, awareness of history, creativity, and a constructive perspective.

The objective of the Age of Reason Project is to compile the education and teaching materials from the period 1928-1938 in a dedicated collection, and thereafter to review the education system of the day using a multitude of lenses.

In this context, an exhibition was developed on the basis of the collection, to bring the results of the project to an audience in Ankara as well as various cities of Türkiye. Furthermore, panels to discuss the subject matter were held with the participation of leading academic names of the field.

The next stage of the project saw the publication by VEKAM of the book ‘Ankara: Capital of Education’ authored by political scientist Prof. Ömer Faruk Gençkaya. The book was published both in Turkish and English.
