We would likte to announce that with the colloboration of Koç University VEKAM and Netherlands Ambassy in Ankara  View of Ankara Conference will be held on Ocotber 18, 2018 at Rahmi M. Koç Museum Ankara /Conference Hall

View of Ankara in the collection of  Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, Netherlands revelas the importance of mohair-based trade and sof weaving in the history of Ankara by depicting Angora goats, woolen materials on looms, women in sof feraces, merchants and a caravan carrying goods from Ankara.

The conference will reveal the story and all the unknowns about View of Ankara (1700 – 1799).During the conference Eveline Sint Nicolaas (Curator ,Rijksmuseum) will give a lecture  focusing on  the adventure of the painting in Netherlands, Dr. Feyza Akder (Post. Doc., Koç University) will analyse the story of the painting and Erman Tamur (Researcher) will draw an outline about the relationship between the painting and sof weaving in Ankara. The conference will be moderated by Prof. Günsel Renda ( Koç University, Department of Archaeology and History of Art).

View of Ankara Painting will be on display and participants will have chance to visit.
