This year saw the eleventh AIECM3 International Medieval and Modern Period Mediterranean Ceramics Congress take place at Antalya AKMED (Suna-İnan Kıraç Research Institute on Mediterranean Civilizations), on 19-24 October, 2015, as a first in Türkiye, under the organization by Koç University, Vehbi Koç and Ankara Studies and Applied Research Center (VEKAM), with support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and AKMED.
The congress intended to provide an introduction to and a general assessment of research carried out in Eastern Mediterranean in particular, and was the scene for 85 oral and 64 poster-based presentations by scholars from a number of countries including France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Greece, United States of America, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Tunisia, Hungary, Russia, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Armenia, Ukraine, and Austria. The participant count of roughly 170 were also accompanied by experts from Istanbul Archaeology Museum, Antalya, Alanya, Side, Elmalı, Demre, Isparta, Yalvaç and Burdur museums operating under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums.
The general assembly meeting held within the framework of the congress concluded with the decision to hold the 12th congress in Greece in 2018, while Prof. Filiz Yenişehirlioğlu, a faculty member of Koç University and Director of VEKAM was elected to the International Board of AIECM3.
