The book is a compilation of the selected papers presented in the conferences titled “Turkish-European Relations viewed through archive documents” held on 1-2 April, 2010, and “International Relations of Türkiye in the light of archive documents” held on 31 March-1 April, 2011, by Vehbi Koç and Ankara Studies and Applied Research Center (VEKAM). The papers revolve around the shared axis of analyses based on European archives containing Ottoman documents or documents related to the Ottoman Empire. This collection of studies of various European archives is the first of its type. The book brings together articles based on studies of the archives of the UK, Germany, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Poland, Macedonia, Albania, and Bosnia. In this sense, it offers a primary source of reference for researchers who work or plan to work on European archives. The articles are ordered alphabetically according to the names of the countries involved. The book is concluded by an article by Prof. Halil İnalcık, discussing the significance of Ottoman-European relations for contemporary Turco-European relations.
