To support urban research by enriching the audio-visual memory on Ankara and its surroundings,  a category specific to Ankara has been announced with a call titled Ankara is Waiting for its Story with the collaboration of VEKAM and the Ankara Film Festival Committee. Kerime Senyücel (TRT , director/retired), Prof. Dr. İpek Çelik Rappas (Koç University), and Armağan Biet (AFF Coordinator) took place in the selection committee of VEKAM’s special award.

Özlem Mengilibörü and Can Mengilibörü, the directors, were announced as the winners of  VEKAM’s Special Award at the closing ceremony of the festival, which was held on 10 November 2023.

Between 1985 and 2007, the Engürü coffee house on Konur Street, one of the most central places in Ankara, became a place of communication and meeting for those living in Ankara at the time and engaged in intellectual, literary, and artistic production. The documentary looks at the political, social, and cultural climate of 1990s Ankara through the productions that resulted from the meetings, encounters, and interactions around this cafe.
