Cultural Heritage Projects for Districts of Ankara 31 March – 5 May 2013
The project is developed to promote the wealth of cultural heritage of Ankara, to maintain its existence, and to contribute to the development of social awareness about the capital.
In this context, handicrafts, traditional clothing and rich kitchen culture of three districts of Ankara –Nallıhan, Ayaş, and Beypazarı–, which are located on the historical silk route, were reviewed; exhibitions were organized to present their daily-life applications, and workshops were held.
Five distinct historical periods of Ankara found their representation in the "Five Ankaras Project" prepared through the cooperation of VEKAM and Open Workshop, at five distinct locations associated with such periods. The five-week-long workshops intended to achieve the internalization of the concrete and abstract values the city had. Interdisciplinary studies guided the workshops' efforts to breathe life into the history, whereupon the outputs of the processes were exhibited in conclusion of the project.
